City of Welland Building Footprints

This spatial data set contains polygons representing building footprints in the City of Welland. The data was compiled as part of the 2006 Aerial Imagery project administered by the Region of Niagara. The ortho-imagery from the 2010 SWOOP imagery project was used to update buildings that have changed, new, and demolished buildings. The methodology used to create the polygons is unknown, however they were most likely compiled using a combination of automatic detection and manual processes. The polygons are maintained by the GIS division and the Planning division as new building permits are issued, however the updates may not reflect current structures. The accuracy of the polygons is unknown, and this data set should not be used where accurate location of buildings is required.
