Neighbourhood Boundaries 2011 csv
This geospatial dataset represents the Neighbourhoods of the Regional Municipality of Niagara. For the purposes of statistical monitoring however, these neighbourhoods were defined based on Statistics Canada Dissemination Areas. The boundaries for these neighbourhoods were developed using the following criteria:
- A neighbourhood had a total population of approximately 3000.
- The neighbourhood boundaries align with natural (i.e. waterways, the Niagara Escarpment) and artificial (i.e. highways, tunnels) boundaries.
- The neighbourhood boundaries align with 2011 Dissemination Areas (DA) as determined by Statistic Canada. (The dissemination Area is a small, relatively stable geographic unit that consists of approximately 400 to 700 people. DAs are the smallest standard geographic areas from which census data are disseminated by Statistics Canada.)
- The neighbourhood boundaries make sense to community members.
