Inspired by the real world location Minecraft worlds created by the Ordnance Survey of the United Kingdom and the Danish GeoData Agency, the Niagara Minecraft Project began as an effort to create a 1:1 scale Minecraft map of the Niagara region. This is the 1.0 version which includes the topography, road network and hydrology of the Niagara region. This project was sponsored by Geospatial Niagara http://geospatialniagara.com and completed by two students of the Niagara College GIS/Geospatial Management Post Graduate Certificate program.
The ultimate goal of this project is to make these Minecraft maps available for use to students and teachers in Niagara schools as an educational tool to explore the geography of the Niagara region.
Niagara Minecraft Maps available include a region wide map as well as maps of each municipality.
The latest project involves the interpretation of the geology of the Niagara region in Minecraft
